Live cam is its own ecosystem — different rules from OnlyFans, different rules from strip clubs. Most cam sites run on tokens (you buy them, you tip with them). Behavior in the chat room is almost more important than how much you spend. Here's how to do both well.
How Tokens Work
Most cam platforms (Chaturbate, Stripchat, BongaCams, MyFreeCams, etc.) use a token system:
- You buy tokens in packages — usually 5-10 cents each
- You tip in tokens on her stream — she sees the tip notification publicly
- Tip menus are pinned in the room: "100 tokens flash, 500 tokens topless, 1000 tokens private"
- Goal trackers are common: "Goal at 5000 tokens for ___"
The model gets roughly half of what you pay (varies by platform).
Public Chat Etiquette
- Greet on entry. Just "hi [name]" or "hey everyone" works. Don't lurk silently.
- Don't backseat the show. "Take it off!" "Show ___!" — pay for it instead.
- Read the room rules. Most camgirls have a pinned set: tip to talk, no demands, no other-girl talk.
- Don't talk to other viewers about other models. Cardinal sin.
- Compliment without demanding. "You look amazing" works. "Show me ___" doesn't unless you tip.
How Much to Tip
| Action | Typical tokens | USD equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Just saying hi (optional but nice) | 20-50 | $1-$5 |
| Tip menu items (flash, etc.) | 50-500 | $5-$50 |
| Goal contribution | 500-2000 | $50-$200 |
| Big tip (high-roller status) | 5000+ | $500+ |
| Private show (per minute) | 30-90 | $3-$9/min |
| Exclusive show (per minute) | 60-200 | $6-$20/min |
Public vs Private vs Exclusive
- Public show. Free to watch, you tip what you want. Anyone can join.
- Private show. One-on-one, you pay per minute. Other viewers see "[username] is in private."
- Exclusive show. Like private, but no one else can spy. More expensive.
What Gets You Banned From a Room
- Asking for free content or "show me ___" without tipping
- Asking for the camgirl's other social media or real name
- Spamming the chat
- Posting links to other models' rooms (most banned offense)
- Negging or critical comments about her body, age, weight
- Insulting other viewers
- Posting in all caps
How to Become a Regular She Recognizes
- Show up at the same time on the same days. Cam models notice.
- Greet by name when you join.
- Tip small but consistently — 50 tokens here, 100 there.
- Be a positive force in chat — defend her against trolls without being aggressive.
- Don't try to take her into private every visit. Sometimes just hang out.
The Move Most Viewers Don't Make
Tip 100 tokens with a kind message at the start of the show, not after she's done something. Sets a great tone, signals you're a real fan, and the model will mention you to other viewers ("thanks Username, what a gentleman"). That word-of-mouth is gold.
Cam vs OnlyFans — Which Is Better?
Different products. Cam = real-time interaction, group dynamic, often feels more like an event. OnlyFans = recorded content, one-on-one DMs, more like a subscription magazine with a friendly editor. Most fans use both. Related: PPV vs Subscription.
